The Fenix E-STAR Emergency Flashlight features three brightness levels and a 100 lumen burst mode which are all powered by an included 1300mAh Ni-MH battery or no battery at all. Recharge the battery by either plugging into a USB power source or by simply pressing the charging lever. This lever activates a built-in super capacitor for electric energy buffering, which can provide continuous lighting even without a battery, and does not need to be maintained by constant pressing. The E-STAR is the perfect tool to have at-the-ready, and never worry about 'if' the battery is charged again.

Samuel ★★★★★

The battery-less operation sold me—being able to run it off nothing but a AA in a pinch is brilliant, and the 100 lumen burst mode cuts through pitch dark like a knife. I've already used it twice during power blips and the three brightness levels give you just enough control without fiddly menus.

Owen ★★★★★

Bought two of these for hurricane season and the fact it runs on an included 1300mAh Ni-MH battery or no battery at all is so clever for emergency prep. The 100 lumen burst mode is plenty bright for walking the dog in a blackout. Wish I'd grabbed more before they were discontinued.

Henry A. ★★★★★

Even though it's discontinued, I'm glad I found this one — the 100 lumen burst mode is surprisingly punchy for such a small light. Being able to run it without any battery at all is a lifesaver when the rechargeable one dies mid-blackout.
